What is BotLance?
Learn what BotLance is, explore its core AI capabilities, and understand how you can build, customize, test, and deploy AI agents for websites and connected messaging channels.
Welcome to BotLance
BotLance is an AI automation platform built to help businesses create and manage intelligent customer experiences from one workspace. Instead of using separate tools for website chatbots, AI responses, knowledge management, social messaging, voice interactions, workflows, and business actions, BotLance brings these capabilities together in a single platform.
After creating your account, you will enter your BotLance workspace, where you can start preparing your AI agent for real customer conversations. You can add information about your business to the Knowledge Base, define how your AI should communicate through AI Settings, test responses before going live, customize your website chatbot, connect integrations, and create actions or workflows when you need more advanced automation.
The Dashboard gives you a quick overview of what is happening across your workspace. You can see conversations, AI responses, captured leads, executed AI Actions, knowledge sources, connected integrations, appointment bookings, and other activity. From the sidebar, you can access the different tools available in your workspace and gradually configure the features required for your use case.
One of the main capabilities of BotLance is the Website AI Chatbot. It allows you to create an AI agent that can communicate with visitors directly on your website. The agent can answer questions using your business knowledge, follow your custom instructions, remember conversation context when memory is enabled, capture leads, process supported images and voice messages, trigger AI Actions, and transfer conversations to a human when assistance is required. Before installing the chatbot on your website, you can test its responses and customize the widget experience.
The Knowledge Base is where you provide the information your AI agent needs to understand your business. You can add content about your services, products, policies, frequently asked questions, company information, and other relevant material. BotLance uses this knowledge together with your AI instructions to generate more accurate and business-specific responses.
BotLance also includes Social AI for businesses that want to use AI inside messaging channels and external automation platforms. Social AI can receive messages and customer context through webhook requests, process them with your configured AI agent, and return an AI-generated reply together with any supported AI Actions. This makes it possible to use BotLance with platforms and channels such as ManyChat, Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp, and other supported webhook-based systems.
For voice-based experiences, BotLance provides Voice AI. Users can interact with supported AI experiences using voice input, including website microphone interactions and supported voice messages received through connected messaging workflows. The AI can process the voice input, understand the conversation, use connected business knowledge, and generate an appropriate response. Phone-number-based AI calling is not currently supported.
AI Actions allow your agents to do more than simply answer questions. During a conversation, an agent can capture a lead, start an appointment booking process, request human assistance, return structured actions to an external platform, or trigger other supported business operations. For more advanced automation, the AI Workflow Builder allows you to combine AI processing, business logic, actions, and connected services into structured workflows.
BotLance can also connect with external services through Integrations. Supported integrations such as Calendly and Google Calendar can be used to extend your AI agents with scheduling and appointment capabilities. Additional integrations can be added to the platform over time, allowing businesses to connect BotLance with the tools they already use instead of rebuilding those services inside the platform.
When customer conversations begin, you can review them through the Inbox and monitor activity from Analytics. If a conversation requires human assistance, AI automation can be paused so a team member can continue the interaction. Analytics gives you visibility into conversations, AI responses, captured leads, executed actions, and other activity across your workspace.
If you are using BotLance for the first time, you do not need to configure every feature before launching your first AI agent. A good starting point is to add your business information to the Knowledge Base, configure your AI instructions, test the agent, customize the website chatbot, and install it on your website. Once the basic experience is working correctly, you can add AI Actions, integrations, Social AI, Voice AI, and advanced workflows based on your business needs.
Now that you understand what BotLance is and what you can build with the platform, the next guide will introduce you to the BotLance Dashboard and show you where the main tools and features are located.
